I remember a limerick on this subject:

There once was a student at Trinity
Who solved the square root of infinity.
It gave him such fidgits
To count up the digits,
He chucked math and took up divinity.

Seems like it might be wise not to contemplate this too extensively.

(I don't know who wrote the limerick.)

By the way, for the product of two numbers to be infinite, at least one of them would have to be infinity... therefore, the square root of infinity is infinity. However, multiplying by infinity really is meaningless. I don't think there's such a thing as the square root of infinity. Infinity is a concept, not a number.

You could think of it in terms of functions. The square root function is an increasing function and it is not bounded above (on the y-values). This means that as x goes to positive infinity, the y values go to positive infinity. So the square root of infinity is infinity.

Think of a square with an infinite area. The square root of infinity would then obviously be the length of one of its sides.

Ask next about the cube root of infinity..........!

Sure, I can, but I wouldn't, since infinity is undefined, the square root of something undefined is worthless.
