hi ally, a little while ago i was asking this same question. well, basically in order to be a vet tech u need to take classes in science. remember that being a vet tech is the same thing as being a nurse. a vet tech IS a nurse (but with animal patients). are u comfortable with science? Your classes will most likely be something like: animal anatomy, physiology, biology and so forth. You'll have to take math classes too. You'll also learn how to use laboratory techniques (for detecting diseases and things like that). You'll learn how to prep animals for surgery, and u'll have to oversee them after surgery. You'll also learn how to administer medications.

Sometimes vet techs have to do some unpleasant work. For instance, cleaning cages. It is also the vet tech's job to put sick, injured, or unwanted animals to sleep. So, u really have to be emotionally ready for this job too.

There are many vet tech schools out there. U can try searching on the web for vet tech schools. Some community colleges offer vet tech programs too.

As for the salary........
vet techs make on average, between $9.88-$14.00 an hour. Of course, it depends on where u live.

Don't worry about how 'hard' it is. If u keep focused on ur classes, u'll be fine :)

feel free to email me if u have any other questions.
