Actually in the animal kingdom the males are usually the more colorful and decorated of the sexes, so it makes sense to jazz up our females.

Some female animals will actually change colors slightly, when it is time to mate.....so that's kind of similar.
Also, they dont have thumbs, so they cant hold or use the make up kits!

Because, unlike other species, the women are trying to attract a stable mate. In other species, the females are being wooed by the males. SHE chooses her mate. What a mixed up society we live in, eh?

So many reasons:
1. we have a brain and the ability to make decisions more complex than whether the rabbit crossing our path is edible or not.
2. we have hands and are dexterous enough to handle make up wands
3. the cosmetics are there, available for use.
4. etc.
