My ceiling fan pull cord broke. Unfortanately, it is still spinning how do i stop it? Also, which position should i have the switch that makes it suck up or blow down the air so it could make the room cooler?

If this is an emergency then read this!
#Use any one of these steps#
1.You can still shut the fan off if you turn off the right switch on the breaker panel.
2. Look for a screw(s) near where the pull
chain broke off. The screws, if removed, will
give you access to the wiring inside. Disconnect
one of the wires leading to the switch.
3.Use the wall switch if you have one.

# If you have a high ceiling make it blow down
or if you have a low ceiling make it suck up!

I was told that in the winter time, you have the fan blowing downwards, it brings the warm air up from the sides of the room and pushes it down in the center. Summertime is reverse, taking the warm air from the center and pushing it away towards the outer edges of the room. RE; cord. well, attachments can be bought in stores. Check them out and for now maybe just use the wall switch. GL

after you turn off the breaker or remove the fuse for that circuit you need to remove the light kit or cap at the center of the fan. inside of that there will be one or two pull chain switch modules. remove the switch being sure to cut the wires at the old switch so you have enough to use to connect to the new one. a new one can be found at a lighting showroom or even homedepot or lowes. make sure you get a fan switch module, if you get a light module it will only have one speed.

good luck

Usually when the switch is in the up position it is sucking air up rather than pushing it down.

Is there a wall switch for the fan?

Ha ha! can no longer say i've got observed something from the ceiling fan, yet in specific situations whilst our Golden Retriever is wagging his tail beween tight areas, like the wall and a field or the bathing room door, we hear beats that sound like distinctive Who tunes! we've heard factors of Slip baby, Squeeze field and Love Reign O'er Me! i presumed we've been nuts. properly, perhaps we are, yet a minimum of now i be conscious of we are no longer the only ones! Do you think of Keith Moon is giggling at us?? yet as to you, this only proves which you're no longer the only song fan on your place LOL!
