Hezbollah is an Islamic guerilla group based in southern Lebanon and highly supported by Syria, Iran and many other Arabs in the Middle East. The U.S. calls them terrorists.
With that said, the group provides many social services to the Lebanese, including utilities, schools, hospitals and news services.
Their main objective is to resist Israel's persecution of Palestinians and Arabs and has often called for Israel's defeat.
Their name means "Party of God" in Arabic. and has been around since the early 1980s.
