Dear GOD I remember that. I went into preterm labor with my first at 33 wks and had to sit on my ever-expanding a$$ for the rest of the time. I was 5 cm and 100% effaced for 2 freakin' weeks at the end. They stripped me every time I went in there (which was annoyingly frequent) yet nothing worked. I finally had him at 39.5 wks but only because my blood pressure shot up and they put me on pitocin, which you should avoid like the plague because it sucks. With my second, I decided I'd had enough at 38 weeks and we had sex. Worked like a charm - he showed up less than two days later! Go jump in the sack and enjoy each other before your new little person gets here. Trust me when I tell you it'll be a while before you feel like (or have the energy) doing that again... ;)

if we knew that more of us wouldn't have been so late giving birth...you can read the books, they tell you things like sex or orgasms will stimulate and progress the labor, but for a lot of people nothing works and all you can do is sit back relax and wait. I was 2 weeks late with all 3 of my kids, and i tried most of the techniques out there that they suggest.

Please don't. As long as your seeing your doctor and there is no problem, baby will get here when baby is ready. My daughter in-law had her doctor induce her twice. Both times, the baby has suffered. The first one has a life-long disability. The second time, the baby ended up in neo natal for under developed lungs. She's a year now and other problems are showing up.

Been there done that, I was told that walking was good, when it came to it the nurses badgered me into having an epidural and I could not walk at all. Pumped me full of drugs including oxytocin designed to help bring on the contractions and help dialation.

It's gonna sound wierd, but try nipple stimulation. It causes the uterus to contract, which can kickstart labor in some women. Swear! My OB forbid me to have any between weeks 32-38, for just that reason. Orgasm, also. Enjoy!

Walk... there really isn't much that you can do but wait...
Believe me i know your frustration... i was on bed rest for my last pregnancy for 5 months and finally at 38 1/2 weeks i was able to get up and it seemed like it took forever for him to decide to come i was exactly 40 weeks when he was born.. Congratulations!!!

Holdin on for dear life? LOL Try castor oil...it will give you diahrrea but it will get those muscles moving...which starts a chain reaction....usually a spoonful or two will do. You gotta be cleaned out when you get to the hospital anyway....why not do it on your own?

There are a lot of Old wive's tales out there, but nothing is actually guaranteed to work. The baby will come when it is ready.

Have sex. Seriously that is what my doctor told me and it worked. I was in labor within 2 hours.
