If you've loved someone for a very long time and suddenly that someone doesn't love you anymore, can you fall out of love? How?

The problem with most Americans is that they have a cinematic view of love. There is no such thing as "falling in love". What you've ultimately done is fallen in love with the "idea" of this person. We have this dream person in our mind and what happens is we apply it to the 1st person we become attracted to. Love is something that grows on you. The Chinese say that Westerners relationships begin in a boil and end in a simmer-whereas Oriental relationships begin in a simmer and end in a boil.
This person may love you still but probably has desires to explore. Especially if he (or she) is young. Understand that, although it hurts to have that person not want to be with you, know that people grow apart and nothing lasts forever. Start looking beyond that person-in other words start envisioning yourself going places and doing things without that person-it will be hard at first, but as time goes by, you will see that you will be alright!

Love is when you never have to worry about it but you should know that love takes time to nurture and hone. Please be patient. HOWEVER, If he loved you and you no longer love him, it was never love. likewise for vis a versa. Sometimes it takes a very long time to shut your heart up......

they aren't happy anymore, you probley aren't meeting their needs, maybe they need a little freedom.
