thing is that when i tried to put the tampon in, it didn't go in even though i followed the instructions on the box. Anyway, it really hurt, but im not sure if it was from having my period or from the tampon. Do you think i broke my hymen, even though the tampon only went in about an inch or something around there? I am still a virgin. Also, if you can provide a website with pictures of where the hymen is located or if you can tell me exactly where it is located and how it tears and how to check if i still have it and how it looks like, it would be really appreciated. Thank you!!!

i highly doubt you've torn the hymen. I was the same way, in fact it seemed like i could never do it, til one day where i had no other choice! you just stick the lil tube in there **(without pushing the tampon out)**

try the gentle glide tampons, Tampax Pearl, not those cardboard ones.

I found this website (Beinggirl.com--it's a lifesaver) that has written instructions as well as a video. As they say, the key to inserting a tampon is relaxing. I know, it's pretty akward trying to shove a foreign object into your body, and your body is going to want to tense up and keep it out, but you've got to relax. It won't go in straight up and down...what I mean is, you have to put the tampon in at an angle. It's about a 45-ish degree angle toward your butt. And your hymen might still be intact, but it's pretty doubtful. Hymens get torn doing everyday things like riding bikes or wearing tampons. I say you shouldn't worry about it.

Just don't wear them. If you have tried it when you were younger and it didn't work or go in, chances are it is still probably like that. Don't risk your health just for that. Just stick to pads or whatever you are using now.
