I am not sure if you mean sun tan or actually sun burn. I suppose if you are wearing sun screen you will tan. The water reflects the sun's rays and therefore, you definitely can get sun burned or tanned while in the water. I hope this helps.

I think you can get burned while just under the water, but I know you can get a bad sunburn while wet. The sun is amplified through the drops of water and you are cooled by the water so you dont feel the heat .

Yes of course! as you know water is kinda transparent and the sun can definitely give you a nice suntan if you stay long enough, just make sure that you swim on your stomach and your back in order to get an even suntan :)

Yes, in fact, the water enhances the rays of the sun. I tend to spend all of my time in the ocean, and I end up being the darkest of those who have gone to the beach with me. Make sure that you have a waterproof sunscreen on so tha tyou don't get hurt!

the water blocks out most of the uv light but if you stayed under for hours then you would get a tan eventually.

You can get more burned directly under the water. The water magnifies the sunlight.
