I noticed you wrote "family planning method" instead of contraception, so I can't help but wonder if you are interested in Natural Family Planning. If you are, it's fabulous. They teach you how to recognize the return of fertility after childbirth also. If you are nursing your child this delays the return of fertility/periods. They teach you what to look for in order to know when your fertility/period is returning. Go to the www.ccli.org website for more info if you are interested and to find a teaching couple.

I use the method and love it. And I've successfully used it to determine the return of fertility after childbirth while I was nursing.

If you're still nursing, your best non-surgical option is probably the progesterone-only mini-pill.
