Want one that is rated well, has good attachments and will suck the carpet right off the floor. I am tired of these underpowered vacs that wont pick up anything.

We have a Hoover upright bagless vacuum. It works great and the handle folds down so you can store it under a bench. We have always had upright vacuums, we swear by them.

Before the Hoover, we had a Volta that had problem after problem... The belt broke very frequently and there were many other problems, including the power supply biting the dust.

Shop around, bagless are great, although Dyson models can be very expensive. Try an ex-rental place, you could get a good model very cheaply.

I have a Panasonic which I love. It also has a bypass motor, so if you suck up something like metal, it won't jam and ruin the motor. I ruined many Hoovers & gave up on those pieces of crap. I've also heard Dysons are over-rated.

Get Panasonic. I won't use anything else. You may have to order online since they're not that easy to find.

The Hoover WINDTUNNEL was rated the best. It will suck the life out of your carpets. Also when I vacuum I clean out the filter as it gets clogged quickly and reduces the suctioning power of the vacuum

Hover is the best. Don't buy any form Value City , all their small appliances and vacuums and electronics are rebuilt.
I know this for a fact I had used to work there in one month we had sent back the defective products to the warehouse a for grand total of 6 grand. that is a big loss to the customer.

I have had hoovers in the past. Bought one from sears that last three years. Two from wal-mart that each last about a year. So last year hubby bought me a Kirby (G-Series), from a door to door sales man from Tulsa Oklahoma. What a joke and an expensive one on top of that. So now hubby said he is going to buy a Dyson.

Royal Everlast Series, around $600
Can't buy it at box stores--have to go to an actual vacuum dealer.
This thing sucks the carpet so hard it is scary. Plus, its inner components are metal rather than plastic.

I myself prefer the dirt devil line because they do the job but not for a fortune, however, the hoover line has been given high ratings, I just don't think that it will suck the rug off the floor!

Check out what consumer reports has to recommend. If you do not have a subscription check you local library; they usually do. Myself I would look at bag less first. Then the amperage. Finally, decide what attachments you may need. I have heard Dysons are over rated.
