OK FIRST OFF LET ME JUST TELL YOU THAT I HATE, AND I MEAN HATE THIS "N" WORD. IT IS PROBABLY MY LEAST FAVORITE WORD. YES I AM A WHITE DUDE AND SERIOUSLY 90% OF MY FRIENDS ARE BLACK.
IT JUST BOTHERS ME HOW IF A BLACK DUDE CALLS ANOTHER BLACK DUDE THE "N" WORD ITS ALL GOOD, BUT IF A WHITE DUDE TURNED AND SAID IT TO A BLACK DUDE THEY WOULD WANT TO BEAT HIS ***. JUST MAKES NO SENSE TO ME.
THE WORD HAS ONE MEANING AND ONE MEANING ONLY, NOT BROTHER, SISTERS, FAMILY, OR ANYTHING. IT IS AN INSULT THAT WHITES CAME UP WITH A LOOOOONG TIME AGO TO USE TOWARDS BLACKS TO BRING THEM DOWN.
SO WHY IS THIS OK? ITS NOT!!! SO EVERYBODY JUST NEEDS TO SHUT THE HELL UP WITH THAT "N" WORD

I'm an african american female and I hate the N Word. I think that it is used out of ignorance and people just say it to be cool. It was a time the a non black could say it to a black and there was nothing that could be done about it accept it or die. If people really looked at the meaning and research how many people lost there lives to free us from being called that word and not have to accept it. I really don't think that it would be used so freelly. the N word means ignorant, studpid, dumb. Before a person says if they should think about what it really means. I won't even consider using it just like the B word that means a femal dog ---- it's ridiculous

Sup Cracka? Seriously, though... It's all about the CONTEXT in which the word is used. If you hear someone saying something along the lines of "Man, I tell you what, those damn n***ers are takin over the country", it's probably coming from a racist southerner. However, if you hear "Yo, I seen dat little n**ga punch dat big n**ga, and hiz moms came out da house witta broom!", you're probably watching an episode of COPS. Blacks probably don't like white people saying it because it's usually white people who push the negative, and often racist, connotation. Except Eminem. He can get away with it.
Another explanation is simply the fact that word meanings evolve over time. Take 'Gay' for example. It used to mean "happy" (think Flintstones), then homosexual, and now it usually means "weak" or "pathetic". I think the same thing has happened here.

i'm black and that i surely imagine that no man or woman in any respect must be making use of the N word. i visit make people understand some thing notwithstanding. If a black man or woman calls a white man or woman white trash i'm quite certain a white man or woman may be indignant at that yet nonetheless if a white man or woman calls yet another man or woman white trash it don't have a similar factor of result. that is an similar component with the N word interior the black community. If a black man or woman calls me the N word I wont be as offensive as if a white man or woman calls me that. only to restate what I surely have stated before i do not imagine absolutely everyone might want to apply the N word even if black or white i'm notwithstanding only the following to make persons understand why black people calling different black persons the N word has a diverse result than even as a white man or woman makes use of it.

I think that people should just stop saying comments and words like that period.
But this situation is like how women can wear dresses and skirts, but guys can't. That is just how it is.
But if you want people to hear your two cents, just stop saying words like that and encourage people to do the same. That is all you can do.

I'm not black, but I suppose it's an exclusive thing. Just like a white guy calling another a 'honky".

It depends on how it is said, who said it and what is behind it. It is often a form of endearment between colleagues and associates who are in a mutual understanding. This seldom applies to people who have not experienced prejudice...and therefore is often not appreciated by someone without this experience.
