This is one of my favorite books. Even though the length may seem intimidating, once you get into it, it starts to go quickly. I remember reading it the summer before I was a senior in high school and I couldn't put it down. It is a novel of mystery, revenge, adventure and love. You MUST read it.
Stop telling yourself that you hate reading. If you tell yourself that, you are psyching yourself out but you are also cheating yourself out of the amazing experience of literature. Perhaps you haven't found the right book yet. The Count of Monte Cristo could be just the one that will change your mind about reading.

I would recommend that you read the book in order to appreciate it fully. However, this is a quick guide to help your reading. You might also want to look at a movie version although they may not be exactly the same as the book.
The Count of Monte Cristo (Le comte de Monte Cristo) is a classic adventure novel by Alexandre Dumas, père. It is often considered Dumas' best work, and is frequently included on lists of the best novels of all time. The writing of the work was completed in 1844, and released as an 18-part series over the next two years. Dumas collaborated with other authors in the writing.
The story takes place in France, Italy, and islands in the Mediterranean during the historical events of 1814–1838 (the end of the rule of Napoleon I of France through the reign of Louis-Philippe of France). It is primarily concerned with themes of justice, vengeance, mercy and forgiveness, and is told in the style of an adventure story.
Dumas got the idea for The Count of Monte Cristo from a true story, which he found in a memoir written by a man named Jacques Peuchet. Peuchet related the story of a shoemaker named Francois Picaud, who was living in Paris in 1807. Picaud was engaged to marry a rich woman, but four jealous friends falsely accused him of being a spy for England. He was imprisoned for seven years. During his imprisonment a dying fellow prisoner bequeathed him a treasure hidden in Milan. When Picaud was released in 1814, he took possession of the treasure, returned under another name to Paris and spent ten years plotting his successful revenge against his former friends.

You really would benefit from reading the book. It is a good book, with not only adventure, mystery but also a moral.
It is really too bad that you hate reading. There is so much that you could not only learn, but so much that you could share with others. I guess that I'm just different. I usually read 2 or 2 books a week. But then again. I don't watch too much television either. I would rather envision the characters in my mind than have someone else decide for me what the characters look like.
Why don't you not read the book and tell your teacher you didn't do your work.

Actually this is a very good book about . I remember that I could not put down this book. Is to long to actually tell you what happened. Is mostly a book about, betrayal, vengeance and redemption. One important thing, don't try to watch a movie(they are plenty about this book) and try to do a review with it. They always get the ending wrong. The count never gets back with Mercedes. To find out who he ended up with, you will have to read the book. ( Yes I am evil ^_^ )
