Tightness IN her stomach or her stomach feels tight. There is a big difference. At 36 wks, it could be that things are starting to happen a little sooner than you think it should. Are you guys sure she's not starting labor (you know, dialation and thinning?) A visit to the OB might be a good idea if you're worried and have her checked out.
Good luck!

That could be "braxton hicks contraction" which is some sort a rehearsal for the real labour. She could feel tightening of her stomach and it will stay on for a few minutes. Ask her to breathe in, breathe out and concentrate on her breathing and the tightness will go off very soon.

Tightness like the skin feels tight? Have her drink more water, and remember that she has/will put on a nice number of inches/pounds in the last 8 weeks. Tightness like cramping? Could be braxton - hicks. When in doubt, call your OB

The baby is moving around and possibly getting in position for childbirth. It takes a little time -- she'll feel this for a little while - I doubt she'll go into labor right away or anything I remember that feeling for a while. It is normal. Don't worry. When it gets further into the pregnancy like that she's going to have stranger feelings happening, along with feelings that she's starting labor. Most of us end up going to the hospital and getting sent home again. That's normal too.

Sounds like Braxton Hicks contractions. If it gets tight for a few seconds and then releases, that is. If so, that is completely normal. It is just the body's way of getting ready for labor.

At about that time alot of things are happening with your wifes body.
I agree that she could be dehydrated. At this point it is essential that she is drinking alot of water.
It could be that there is alot of stretching of skin and muscles going on..there is not much room left in there.
It sounds like it might be Braxton Hicks contractions. These are little practice contractions that the uterus does to prepare for labor. Usually these are nothing to be concerned about. But, if your wife is uncomfortable or you are nervous about them, talk to your Dr.
I suggest reading up on Braxton Hicks contractions and false labor symptoms.
Relax!
When its time to go to the hospital...you will know. Believe me. There wont be any doubt.

It is most likely the beginning of labor I went into labor 3 weeks early with both my kids they are most likely contractions but ones that aren't really doing anything yet. If they start to get painful that is when I would make an appt. with the Dr. (Braxton Hicks contractions getting her body ready for birth)

Braxton Hicks contractions. They are at times very uncomfortable look them up and you will get all the answers you need. That's what I did cause I am having the same issue right now. They are the ones you get that prepare your body for true labor.

She is close to delivery. She could be having Braxton Hix contractions. They way you know they are not real is they will go away when she lays down to rest. If they don't go away the will get steadily stronger and closer together. My daughter just had triplets 2 months ago. She went though the same thing. Good luck! Call you Dr. if you are worried.

they could be braxton hicks, they are rehearsal contractions, its just her body getting ready for labour. 36 weeks is still a bit early for labour but it does happen. sometimes women go into labour aanywhere from 37 weeks. just tell her to relax. lie down and put her feet up. they should go away. if the get worse take her to a hospital
