Yes. It is called thrush and I have had it. At 41 years old I got my tonsils, adenoids and my uvula taken out for sleeping reasons. During the healing process I developed thrush in my esophagus. I used an oral antibiotic that I gargled and swallowed. It cleared up in 3 days.

Some think that a PH balanced diet or balancing the PH in your system will help prevent many of these issues. Also, high sugar diets may also contribute to the problem or diabetes (have you been checked?). Basically you have a weakened immune system or your body is in someway susceptible to fungal/yeast infection. Sometimes a probiotic such as specific yoghurt are said to help. These are all anecdotal and some doctors insist there is no connection between diet and yeast infections. Goof Luck!

Candida yeast starts in your digestive system, so I don't see why it couldn't be in your esophagus or feel like it was.
Young children get something called THRUSH in their mouths, usually the roof of the mouth.
Have you been on antibiotics recently?

Thrush is an infection of the mouth caused by the candida fungus, also known as yeast. Candida infection is not limited to the mouth; It can occur in other parts of the body as well, causing diaper rash in infants or vaginal yeast infections in women.

What Causes Thrush?

Small amounts of the candida fungus are present in the mouth, digestive tract, and skin of most healthy people and are normally kept in check by other bacteria and microorganisms in the body. However, certain illnesses, stress, or medications can disturb the delicate balance, causing the fungus Candida to grow out of control, causing infection.

Thrush can affect anyone, though it occurs most often in babies and toddlers, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems. Examples of medications that upset the balance of microorganisms in the mouth include corticosteroids, antibiotics, and birth control pills. Illnesses or medical situations that make candida infection more likely to develop include uncontrolled diabetes, HIV infection, cancer, dry mouth, or pregnancy (caused by the hormonal changes that occur with pregnancy). People who smoke or wear dentures that don't fit properly also are at increased risk for thrush. In addition, babies can pass the infection to their mothers during breast-feeding.

While healthy children and adults can be effectively treated, the symptoms may be more severe and difficult to manage in those with weakened immune systems.

That would be unusual unless there was something wrong with your immune system.

You can get a yeast infection of your mouth or throat if you are using some types of asthma inhalers that contain steroids, and are not rinsing your mouth after using them.
