Me and my daughter traveled 1000 miles when she was about 18 months and the best advice i got was to take along toys she was once interested in but maybe now are at the bottom of the toy box. They also have the Crayola coloring pages that only mark on the Crayola paper and if you want to spend about $100 the portible DVD players are great and last for years.

Maybe baby will sleep part of the time. A ride in a car, especially on a steady drive, seems to lull children to sleep. Beyond that, I would suggest the usual "see the cow? what does a cow say?" and "see the train? how does a train go?" to keep him or her occupied. I'm not sure how baby car seats work into this, however. I'm assuming it will be in the back seat, so if you play any look-out-the-window games, they should be directed toward the front as much as possible to avoid baby getting car-sick. Good luck, and have plenty of pacifiers on hand - for yourself!
