I dont think it will be over, as wrong as it may be. I have met people of all races who are that way. Its quite sickening to tell you the truth. Good question though..

Wow, after reading some of these posts I wonder if people really believe this stuff or if they have just never really had a racist incident occur to them or a friend. Racism is rampant, in many directions. I have had waiters ask only me what we are ordering when it is me and a couple of black guys at the table, like I am the only one the waiter will talk to. When the check comes, it just automatically goes in front of me, like the black guys can't afford to pay or something. The problem is, I don't think people even realize that they are racist on this level. It's like alcoholism. You have to admit you have a problem before you can do anything about it... Don't get me wrong. I have been beaten up by blacks and by mexicans just for being in the wrong place when someone has had too much to drink. Suddenly the white guy is a punching bag. Occupational hazard of being the token white guy sometimes. But that was back in the sixties and seventies moreso than today. Today the racism is more subtle, like the stuff at the restaurant, in stores, on airplanes, etc. but it is so ingrained that people don't seem to realize it anymore. It's like if they don't see a big sign saying "Colored Folks Drinking Fountain" they think the problem is solved.

Sadly, I know many who are, family members even. So no, I don't think racism is over but really, can you tell me a time when there wasn't racism of some sort. I can't think of any. There's always some kind of prejudice out there. It's sad, and shouldn't be the way it is but... that is the way it is. And that goes for more than just white and black. I know hispanics who are racist against whites. Asians who are racist against blacks and hispanics. It's everywhere man.

The United States of America always has been and always will be a "melting pot". Diversity is what makes this nation great. What other nation can boast of having such diverse races, creeds, colors, and even religions. To understand and relate to different groups I believe it is wise to focus on our common ground. We all came to America for one reason or another and we are afforded many opportunities to become successful. If we are willing to work hard and strive, no matter what our skin color, we are well able to achieve our dreams. The sky is the limit. Is there still racism? Yes. However, this mentality feeds racist thoughts and behavior. I care not, what your heritage is, only are you an American? If you are an American, there is nothing that can stop you from achieving your goals. The limits placed on you are set by you. Isn’t it time to break those limits?

Quite a few.

Racism is still a big issue in this world, and it's not just "white" people spreading the hate. It was never only "white" people.

Oh, and people, stop using the phrase "reversed-racism." When a black person says a white person is beneath him, it's not "reversed-racism," it's just racism. There's no such thing as "reversed-racism."

But that's beside the point.

The point is this: there is still lots of hate perpetuating in this world, and racism, discrimination, sexism and other issues similar to them are still very dominant in this world.

No, as long as there is ignorance, there will be racism..Like children we are afraid of what we don't know, and we're afraid to admit it. Most people a racist, and I am a european- Canadian, and here it is the same, except maybe the races are a little different mixtures.. Sorry, I doubt it will ever go away...

Nope, not over yet.

I lived in Asia for 4 years and was shocked to see the extent of racism. The way the many whites refer to hispanics here in California is very similar to how many Chinese speak about folks from India. It is awful.

In some ways, it's getting better. But in other ways, it's not.

No, I don't think it is over. As long as people keep making it an issue in our everyday lives it will always exsist. But racism goes many more ways then white to black. Because you have so many questions on here pertaining to this issue, it makes me feel that you might have a problem with it yourself.

I'm not and I believe that racism isn't 100% over. But it isn't just
whites who are to blame for racism. Blacks, Latinos, Asians,
and other races can be racists too.

No, racism is alive and well. Not only are the Whites to blame, but also the Blacks. We have good and bad in any color and its up to the person what kind of life you have. Being poor won't be a factor if you want to excel, no mater what color.

I am proud to say that I like EVERYONE unless they gve me a reason not too!! I don't care what color you are, where you came from, or how much money you have! Everyone puts their pants on the same way every morning and everyone needs to remember that!! PEACE!!
