I think they are pretty much like anyone else, and I've pretty much liked the black people I"ve met. When I taught school, if they thought their child was being mistreated they would come in very nicely and check the situation out before running amok as many white parents are prone to do or they would ask around and find out that way. They were always more grateful than others for any special thing I did for their children. I have black friends and have attended church with some (lot's more fun than my church) and have spent time in their homes, had dinner and whatever. The only thing I would complain about is that some black people use being black as an excuse to get things done for them - special treatment. And, this is not a complaint because I can understand it, having been on the receiving end - they sometimes think they are dealing with prejudice when they aren't. Sometimes, I have found, you can't tell if something negative happened because of prejudice or if it was just an honest mistake.- and as I said in the beginning, my experience has been that they generally will check for the truth first. I had something happen once that I have found very worrisome to my mind. the KKK decided to march in my town and most people I know held a kind of a love in in the park that day. but I wanted to see what the KKK was going to do so I went there. I found myself on the side of the street where the rednecks were gathering, so I crossed the street where the "people of color" had gathered and many of them- that I knew -avoided me until I made a point of it to go to them and say hello. Quite suddenly, by crossing the street I became the enemy. I don't know how we can fight it that even tho we try, our skin isn't the same color. It has bothered me a lot. just the fact that you feel the need to ask this question and that I feel the need to answer it indicates, I guess, that we may never truly be able to solve the racial problems.

I grew up in the projects, so I have a lot of black friends and have known some of them since I was about 3. For me, I don't think any differently about blacks than whites. I think there are intricacies to every race and culture that are unique to them though. The only thing I think about blacks that is different than whites is your willingness to socialize with other blacks in certain situations. You are always "outnumbered" at things like corporate events, so often when a black person walks in to the room they seem to seek out other black people to talk to or to sit with as a first move. Once you have made a connection, you relax more. I think many races would do this though if they were represented in your numbers. (There just aren't as many Japanese people or Indian people or whatever in my area to make this same comparison with) I only know this because a black friend told me, but now that I know it, I try to talk to the black folks at big meetings and stuff so they know they have someone there to connect with as they might not make a move to connect with me first since I'm white. Then again, I am very comfortable around black people, and I don't think most white people truly are.

I think culturally our races are very different. I cannot help but notice in prisons the majority of the inmates are black.
I work in a hospital and the black girls are having baby after baby and no way to support them. I actually assisted in the delivery of a black woman who was 18 and already had 3 children. She was never married and was giving birth to another child and no father was present. Whats the deal with all the babies?
I would like to know when blacks start moving into a neighborhood, why the neighborhood starts looking like trash. Why do they burn things and tear up their apartments. Why does the crime rate go up when blacks move in?
Maybe you can answer these questions.

absolutely gorgeous! Now of course not all of them are but you seem to have more beautiful people than the white community does....actually every race has more beautiful people than the white community. And so much personality and energy! Especially the females. Yea they will whoop your a*s if you mess with em but they will be there to back you up if someone is messing with you. And the drama a black person has actually has validity. A white person usually consists of "he said he was gunna call but I think he went to Becky's house anyway and I told him that I didn't want him to go but I love him so much so I guess it's alright". It gets annoying. Truthfully my husband seems to think that I am racist against my own race. I just don't get along with them very well. Can't help it. Sorry if this is kinda random, I keep getting interrupted

Sorry....it's going to take alot more than seeing someone's skin color for me to form an opinion on someone. Good people are good people....no matter what color they are.

I have always wondered one thing though.....WHY are black women so often quite LOUD? I remember walking into work in a hospital in Detroit every morning at 6am...and frequently when a couple of black women would come across each other......they would just start YELLING to each other....you know, all the 'girlfriend stuff'! And here I was.....still half asleep, desperately seeking coffee.

I don't get the whole 'rap' thing either....just sounds like such angry music to me.

I think black people are more religious than white people. (I am white, so I am comparing with my own race.) I think you read the Bible more than we do as a percentage. I think you also have a lot more southern mannerisms than white people (more chivalrous, males more attentive to females). I think you deal with more racism on a daily basis than most white people realize. As a generalization, trash comes in all colors, so I don't judge people based on their skin color. However, people who dress and act like "gangstas" are scary freaks, whatever color they are. I would be afraid of anyone who dresses that way because I associate that style of dress with violence, guns, etc. I mostly have white people in my area, so the people I am referring to are not black but I would be equally afraid of them if they were black. If someone wants to try to look like a gangsta, I don't have any reason to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they might be nice and harmless. I don't have any different thoughts in my head when I meet someone black than when I meet someone of any other race. I think I probably tend to make judgments based on apperance rather than on race. That probably isn't a good thiing to do either, but it's honest.

I grew up in a very diverse town, and recently moved to, well, a rather ignorant part of the country..... I think that blacks are people. I guess, I do not have a tendancy to make distinctions. My son has many black friends, and living where we do, their parents are often surprised that we "allow" their children to come to our home... I would rather my son play with a kind black boy, than an ignorant, judgemental hillbilly... But, hey thats just my opinion:)

I'm from Northern Europe where we don't really see any black people, and I tend to think pretty romantic things. Mostly "Africa", "music", and "athletes". But I also get that vibe that there is a lot of anger about it in the US, somehow. Obviously, I know more than that, but you asked what we really perceive, on an emotional level.

I'm glad that you ask that question, i am white and i do not hold anything against blacks!! i treat blacks the same as i do whites!! it is wrong for some people to be racists!!! i do not believe in the white supremacists!!! we are all the same, the only difference is color!!you have the same blood as me, you have feelings, just like i have feelings, etc!! what i am driving at is that we need to show the same courtesy to every one, no matter if they are black, white, yellow, etc!! we are all GOD'S people, i believe that is what i'm really trying to say!!! i respect blacks as i do any other color!! i hope you understand what i'm trying to say!! we are not to be respecter of persons!! bless you!!!!!!!!

Personally, I don't like to see Black people fight over the same stupid things that white people fight over! Things like cars, houses, clothing styles, & kinky hair vs. straight hair & light skin vs. dark & medium skin & questions like is your Daddy Black/White or what? All people should chill & not ask those kinds of questions until they know a person better, no matter what color their skin is!
