Using Windows XP on NTFS, I formatted my drive yesterday and there was one folder I forgot to backup.

Are there programs out there I can use to retrieve it? Hopefully a FREE program?

I am on a laptop so I reinstall it using the ghost images on CD, so I personally never format. It just reloads the image

First don't save any more. There are programs to retrieve these files, the names escape me right ow but go into yahoo search and ask "retrieve files after format" These jprograms are pretty expensive and shops that use them are costly. So you may want to evaluate whether the lost files are worth it.

Usually if you formatted your drive by FULL it won't retrieve anything, as all data on your drive will replace with different characters. It "MIGHT" if you did formatted with QUICK format.

Try the link below, see if can help.
