Make sure that the bat isnt too heavy for you. The lighter the better because that way you'll have more precision and control. Also make sure that your muscles are stretched before you go up to bat. A good way to practice is to start swinging at baseballs pitched at a low velocity and gradually raise the speed of the ball. Its also good to swing at small rocks. It'll help with your coordination.

Keep your eye on the ball, not on the bat.
But first you should practice. Put a screw eye in a baseball and hang it from a tree limb or something up high. hang it so the ball is just a little above your waist. Then step back, and try swinging at the ball level. Pretty soon, you will be hitting the ball every time. Then have someone throw the ball to you slowly. Keep your eye on the ball and your swing level. Don't go for the high ones or the low ones. Just those that come across at just about waist level. Practice, Practice, Practice.
