I have someone buying my computer and says that the check will be here tomorrow I want to make sure that the check is real and that the money is there before I cash it because I've heard of people scamming with checks. Plus I don't know anything about this woman.

No, and that's the problem. Even if you call the bank and there are funds that moment, the second you hang up someone can withdraw the money from an ATM or whatever.

I would go with the person to the branch and get cash.

Call the bank the check is issued on and they will tell you if the account is in fact real and they can tell you if there are funds in the account sufficient to cover the check. When in doubt, go to the bank of the person writing you the check and cash it before you give him the computer.

One thing you can do is to call the bank on which the check is drawn and ask if there are sufficient funds in the account to cover it. If there are you can deposit it but I would wait until the check clears before turning over the computer.

Some banks will not cash checks unless you have an account with them or might charge a fee.

yes you can take it to the bank and ask them to verify the funds and account before you do. Good luck.
