well you have to remember why it is illegal in the first place. according to Harry Anslinger it is responsible for a crazed frenzy that some people end up in that allows them to commit horrible acts of violence and the effects will last up to 48 hours (wish I could find some of that 48 hour weed!) plus long term use WILL cause insanity.
Or maybe it was the fact that hemp re-emerging on to the marketplace would have given the cotton growers some competition and considering that it will grow nearly anywhere and it is in so many ways superior to cotton that would have been very bad for the south near the end of the great depression. Not to mention DuPont (the inventer of nylon), the oil companies and those holding timberland.
I believe the prohibition will be over soon if we want energy Independence because corn will not feed our fuel appetite nor will trees but hemp can (4 times more cellulose per year per acre than trees and 10 times more than corn)
as for the phycho-active strains I turn to GEN. 1:29 where God gave man all the seed bearing plants to use as his food. I government has already acknowledged the religious use of it so lets take it one step further.
Now to answer you, it's not in the government's hands it's in ours, get the question on the ballot and make sure the stoners get out to vote before they 420 and the problem will be solved.

What? Give up a promotional party to do research?!
When hell freezes over. They don't watch PBS & I'm
not sure if all of them can read.

Besides, they're raking in the dough from State Stores &
all the fines people get while drunk on alcohol.
They won't give that up - it's a sure buck in their pocket.

The confiscated good stuff - it's in their possession -
and they don't have to pee in a cup. It's a lovely time for them.

It is a good idea but would we not have more hash heads going about in a daze. I have many friends who smoke so much they have fried their brains and become so lazy and dopey. Its is softer than drink but the two do not mix either. Im glad I stopped it ages ago but it as its a hard habit to break once you start smoking it everyday but i dont see any harm in its recreational use occasionally.

No way, much more of a negative impact rather then the benefits of legalizing it. If it is legalize I bet government will have huge income from tax but they'll spend more on security, rehabilitation, medical, etc. for the junkies.

Its too easy to grow as a citizen, the government can't tax what they don't know about... It would be nice to get and not worry about getting in trouble...hey do you think that if it were to be legalized the paranoia side effect would stop???

Because its easy enough for people to grow and they wouldn't be able to tax it. Stupid, but thats the reason.
