A racist as defined by freedictionary.com is 1. The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.
2. Discrimination or prejudice based on race.
So, they are not being racist towards him because they are not believing they are better than he is because of color or discriminating or being prejudice because of his race. They just dont like his views.

You're friend is racist and you say people that don't like him because he is racist are racists? There's something wrong with how you're looking at this. Disliking 1 person doesn't make someone racist.

people might not like your friend because of his racist views and opinions but that does not make them racist because they are not hating him because of his color or due to irrational stereotypes and fears they do not like him because of his dispicable attitude and that is not racist.
