I have a pet Female Red-Ear turtle that i found on the side of the highway 2 days ago. I brought it home and have been taking care of it until she got better because her arm was hurt. But today, she laid 5 white eggs, and then died. The eggs are soft. But i have no idea how to take care of them.

Sure i burry them in dirt of something? If so, how deep should i burry them, and how compact should the dirt be over them? OR, should i just leave them out in the open? Do i need too keep them warm, or wet? How long until they hatch?

HELP please!

A red eared slider lays eggs in loose wet sand. Take a tupperware dish will very loose wet sand and a humidity gauge that can be purchased at a pet store for under $5. The humidity needs to stay around 85%, you can do this by covering the tupperware dish with saran wrap with 6 or 7 ventilation holes. If you see condensation building up on the plastic it is too much humidity and the eggs will rot. Once a day remove the saran wrap to get rid of any extra water build up. You can let the humidity go as low as 75%. There should be no puddle buildup in the sand. It should be moist to the touch but not soaked. Give it 45 days and you will have baby turtles. "To incubate slider eggs indoors I half bury them in moist vermiculite in plastic shoe boxes with loose-fitting lids. I monitor the water content by weighing the boxes during incubation and adding water to keep the same weight or judging it visually from the amount of condensation on the box top. At about 26°C (80°F) they hatch in 50-62 days. "

DONT TURN THEM AT ALL!!! if you do, they will die!!! use soil or moistened vermiculite in a margerine container and make indents for the eggs before placing them in. Then, keep the soil moist and keep the eggs in a warm place. They probably wont hatch, but if they do, it will be a few monthes. hope this helps!

Mark the tops of the eggs so if they tip for any reason you can know which way to set them. The embryo will drown otherwise keep moist/ Good Luck!
