Right, the Roman Empire lasted 500-600 years. Wiped out by its sorry decline.
The Ottoman Empire about 400 years.
The British Empire about 250 years.
And the US hegemony/Empire is about to come crashing down. About 100 years.
I think history is teaching us that the longevity of Empires is shortening/decreasing with time.

That cannot be answered specifically, but if you consider the Roman Empire, Ottoman, etc., the average would be about 400-500 years.

It lasts as only until it thinks it is the one and only.
Then it becomes small and another bigger one eats it up.
