israel has been trying to stop terrorism for more than fifty years.

Warfare breeds terrorism. When there is an asymmetry in (military) power between two groups, and the more powerful uses its power to attempt to control the less powerful, the less powerful group will always become radicalized and use whatever means available to strike back. For the past hundred years terror has been the principal weapon of those lacking power.

Think of an example from the Israel's attacks on Lebanon. Imagine you were a moderate, apolitical Lebanese person then yesterday a Israeli shell killed your father and your mother and maimed your sister while they were sitting in their home. I'd bet most people would be likely to become radicalized and become willing to give their life to inflict damage on the perceived enemy.

I think a great way to defeat 'terrorism' is by paging back, and recognizing the fundamental need to take a 'reality check' with this whole globalism business. The 'dream' of globalism is global integration, and it blithely ignores the fact that, well, some people just hate each other's guts, and without the police/military stepping on their necks, in other words left to their own devices, they'll be out there, knifing each other down over a loaf of bread or a dirty look, or robbing and stealing like bandits etc. People can act like animals without the thin veneer of 'society' that we take for granted, and will, especially if resources are short. Can YOU come up with another explanation for stuff like Rwanda? I can't...I think in some parts of the world, the law of the jungle still applies, and that's a shock for us as americans because we're used to books and books and books of laws that provide governance and guidance over what we do, and how we do it, for the most part.

I think eventually what happens is that you're looking at building more and more prisons, bigger and bigger armies, and Big Government whether you like it or not...it is the Way Of Things...
Big Tribes eventually become nations...and I don't know if that'll ever go away, and globalism brings members of separate tribes together sometimes for the first time. Sometimes, that goes badly...I think we should focus on going upward, and onward, and let other nations seek to resolve their own differences. We've got a space station to build, a moon to colonize, another planet to explore, that kind of thing....none of that has to do with trying to get resources from some country hell-bent on living in the 4th century A.D....

Terrorism thrives off of warfare. That is exactly what they want. They want to take out as many people as possible, and war is the ultimate way of doing it.

Personally, I really don't think there is any way to defeat them, because they want a world ruled by their religion, and I think if they ever achieved that, they still would not be happy. One can not please or stop fanaticism.

In my opinion, the warfare going on as we speak is in fact terrorism. When Israel kills innocent people, it is called self defense, when any muslim country defends itself, it's terrorism. Go figure.
