I've attached a 5.1 setup to my sound card and am not getting any sounds from my rear and center speakers. if I plug the rear speakers jack into the [front speakers] audio input on the sound card, then I will hear something (so I know that the speakers are all working fine)

thanks for the help

make sure your speaker setup within windows under control panel is set to 5.1 surround. Also if your sound card came with utillities run the diagnostics, if that does not work reinstall drivers.
I would start with speaker setup it just sounds like your are set to use 2 speakers instead of 5.1

are there 3 jacks on the sound card?
1 green - front 2 black - rear 3 orange - subwoofer?

I have the Rocketfish wireless rear speaker kit. You run your rear speaker cables to the powered unit that receives the signal from the transmitter hooked up to the back of the receiver. It works really well, but it's not exactly what you're looking for. I suppose you could buy two of these and hook one speaker up to each (assuming they don't transmit on the same frequency), but they aren't small. They're about the size of a cigar box.

You need to make sure that you computer is set up to 5.1 Surround sound. If your speakers were meant for a computer, then it probably came with some sound drivers.

Did you install the correct drivers for your soundcard.

If it's a Soundblaster Series, go to www.creative.com and click on Software AutoUpdate.
Otherwise, do a quick search for your card manufacturer, and see if there are updated drivers. :)

Chacnes are that your cound card doesn't support 5.1, or you don't have 5.1 enabled in your sound card's settings.
