Check the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) on your transmission.

first of all there are two possibilities, first, if only in second gear(failsafe), you have an electrical problem inside the trans, or with a speed sensor. if you have first and second only, no third or fourth, that means the three/ four clutches are burned out- very common- which means you need a complete overhaul.

Disconect battery for about 10 minutes and it will reset transmission computer.Happened to me after installing remote starter

give it a transmission oil change.If that dont help check out the transmission sensor. that will go out before the transmission.
