Yes they do.Furthermore,Israel is persecuting others,they are quick to forget that they were once persecuted.All of this madness needs to stop if we hope to have any kind of future as a planet.People are so sick and greedy over oil, money ,and religion that they aren't looking at the big picture.For example, all of these so-called religious people are forgetting that the roots of their religions are peace and acceptence.

The answer to this is just too complicated. Yes and no. Yes they get too much support in some ways from the west. No, in that without that support they would not have survived until now. It may be time for the US to pressure Israel to stop targeting civilians and committing mass punishments. The whole situation is just way too messed up for any one answer to suffice. Can anyone who doesn't live in Palestine or Israel truly even comprehend the situation?

Pretty much-- the lobby is very strong here.
But, in the recent case, Israel is not really getting leeway. They were attacked. What did we do when we were attacked? Invaded a whole country on the other side of the planet.
If Mexico or Canada started lobbing bombs at us or even sending in suicide bombers, you'd think we'd just sit around and take it?

I think that it's even beyond that. Israel is the military and foreign policy extension of the USA in the middle east. They are the hitmen for the USA. Right now, the USA wants to show how dangerous and volatile the region is, and blame Iran as the culprit and prime suspect so that Iran's nuclear ambitions will seem too dangerous to accept to the rest of the world. Clearly Bush is encouraging the needless destruction of Lebanon. I would even bet that the Israeli military set their own soldiers up to be captured as a reason to instigate thier excessive attacks.
