No, I do not think Andrea Yates was legally insane or insane in any other way when she murdered her children. She knew to call the police and her husband to let them know she had done something terribly wrong. It is hard to tell the difference between insane and evil. In this case it looks like evil to me. If the pictures of what she did to her children were tacked permanently to the walls of her cell for her to view each and every day maybe after awhile she would go insane, but I doubt it.

I believe the test for legally insane is to not know the difference from right and wrong at the time of the offense. I'm not so sure she didn't know that, though it seems she was a lot sicker than I had originally thought. She was said to be suffering from Post Pardum Psychosis, which is a very real illness that most still dismiss. Regardless, she'll still be locked away one way or another forever, so she's not getting off. I've also heard that she doesn't take her medicine because when her mind is clear, she knows what she's done and that sends her into a psychosis. That's a hellish sentence that she's serving for the rest of her life when her husband, which I think played a part in her going over the edge, excuses it away and is, somehow able to move on without a care.

A mom long previous Mad "What Made Andrea Yates Snap?" various everyone seems to be looking this question after the tragic loss of life of 5 infants on the hands of their mom. interior the throes of postpartum melancholy, Andrea Yates drowned her 5 infants interior the tub, one after the different. The media rationalization is that her drugs have been unwisely discontinued, maximum advantageous to psychotic habit. Others blame loss of help, fatigue and overwork. yet no person is stating foodstuff. Andrea Yates had 5 infants in speedy succession, with little time to construct up dietary shops between pregnancies. just about genuinely she replace into on the time-honored American eating regimen, lacking fat-soluble supplements and long-chain fatty acids. Is she to blame? Or does blame relax with the full scientific employer that has promoted business agriculture and soul-numbing lowfat diets a lot of those years? Had she been taken care of with cod liver oil particularly of antipsychotic drugs, this tragedy could desire to have been prevented.

If she was insane How did she know what to do. If a father did this He would already be sitting on death row! It is definitely a ploy to get her off!

No, I don't believe she was insane. If she was, how did she know to call the police? She would have thought she did nothing wrong. Sometimes our legal system seems to be on the side of the offender. Such as the Jessica Lunsford case.

I think it was a ploy to get her off and the first jury agreed. However, my opinion doesn't county because only the jury that hears all the evidence at her retrial will decide the issue.

Yes.
That poor woman fell through the cracks.
They never should have taken her off the meds.
Family members should have been with her and those kids EVERY SECOND. She was pleading for help, and everyone let her down. WHERE was her family, and her husband's? A day late and a dollar short, I'd say.
In my opinion, her family, and the health-care system, let her down.
A senseless, needless tragedy.

Read all of the background, married to a guy who only wanted a submissive baby factory/sex partner in line with his extreme christian beliefs.
You would be insane also.
Funny it is only the christians who proclaim messages from God who get persecuted by the new breed of pseudo christians today.
Others live.
christians purposely misspelled with lower case.

Yes, you have to be completely insane to kill all of your kids. Not even once did she snap out of it and realize what she was doing. I hope she rots in prison. And die a lonely person.
