...believe me...I tried watching american sports while I flipped through the channels the other day without boring myself to death....and that's just flipping through the channels!

but..I don't know if american people will ever drop their sorry *arrse sports....to me..all baseball games are the same...they just run and run around a field..in circles...and how long does that game last...12 hours? ....oh is it 10? zzzzzzzzzz

and american football....should have never been called football because it has NOTHING to do with real football....if there ever was a more boring stupid sport invented it was that one! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.......Yawwnnn!!

oh my...just talking about them is making me fall asleep...

besides I don't think american athletes would be able to play real football...they are pretty overweight...if they can barely make it to first base how do you expect them to run for 90 minutes plus? :-)

*mispelled

We do. You just stated that we have one of the better soccer teams in the world. It hasnt been accepted as the "best" sport in the world. We dont like soccer, cuz its extremely boring, american football is much more entertaining, much more talent is involved, and there is much more diversity among the players. Growing up, every young boy runs around their backyard imagining they're Dan Marino throwing a game winning TD pass. Then they start dreaming. Dreaming about leading their hometown high school football team to the state championship. Then eventually that day comes. When they put on those pads and suit up on friday nights. On friday nights, in the USA, in the fall, communities gather and all sorts of people come together to cheer for the hometown team. Its what america does.

Because British Sports are to much like hard work for them. An american football team came over from the states quite a bit a go and played a Rugby Union Team and they said the game was to rough for them.

It will happen when those in charge of televised sports tell us to. :-)

Seriously, given that associated football has a dearth of commercial breaks, while the "crappy" sports that you mention are loaded with pauses both natural and constructed (TV timeouts?), there's little incentive to educate the American public to the "beautiful game".

ADDENDUM: If low scoring is so boring, then why isn't Arena football more popular than regular American football? And why isn't cricket the number one sport? Just thought that I'd respond to some other comments.

Cuba defeated the USA in baseball in the Olympics
Japan defeated the USA in the first REAL World Series of Baseball

Canada and former USSR has defeated the USA in Hockey at the Olympics

USA has been defeated always until very recently in soccer by Mexico

USSR has defeated the USA in Basketball in Olympics and so has Argentina

Soccer is the real mass media sport of today ....
So when will the USA be ready to win the World Cup???????

Honestly I'm not much of a sports fan, but my least favorite by far is your "football" It's so long for each team to score once or twice, I'm usually cooking or doing something else while the guys are watching the game, it's so rare that something exciting happens that I always miss it.

Apparantly americans dislike football because it is not exciting enough for them!!! Not enough goals, i mean 3-2 just doesnt have enough avtion for them. They prefer the 89-58!!!!!!!!! Don't think you will ever get a score like that in the beautiful game!

America is a very isolated country and their main sports demonstrate this. But do we really want the US playing football. They would just spoil it or want to change it to accommodate the TV companies.
