Yes you can, though when I started playing chess i was better than now... I think. Well I had time. Anyways then, I use to plan ahead and to get me ready for important games. I would play against myself trying to plan the best move for every side. And don't hold back because this will help you determine the other players strategy when you're playing and also from the opponents perspective of how you play. So once you know how you play you'll be able to prevent yourself from weaknesses. Although this is helpful for strategic, 2 hour games. Thanks and keep playing.

Of course it's possible just increasing the time spent to study chess.
The question should be: How much do I have to study chess in order to become a master?

Yes. Chess is a game all about developing the mind and its limits. Your mental limits ultimately determine how good you can become, but they don't tell you how good you are. By learning more about the game, and your potential adversaries' minds, you can overcome the opponents you face. By simply predicting player's moves I can advance to my next opponent, but you must thoroughly understand the game to develop to your full potential. Study up, play a lot, you can win.
