If your baby is hungry then he is not eating enough at his feedings. Solid food won't help with that. If he completely drains the bottle then you need to try to give him another ounce or two. He is too young to be fed with a spoon. Also, most babies don't sleep through the night until after 4 months so he is right on a normal schedule. Just don't push the solid foods as it can create food allergies and upset his delicate digestive system.

And absolutely no baby juice. That comes much later. Juice (and fruit for that matter) are very hard on a baby and can cause diarrhea. My pediatrician recommended very small amounts of fruit if my children were constipated but that veggies were much more important, and no solid foods until 6 months.

No. No baby--no matter how big, no matter how hungry, no matter how mature--is ready for solids before 6 months old. In fact, it can do serious harm to the baby. Every health organization worldwide today recommends waiting until 6 months old to offer solids for this reason.

If your baby is hungry, he needs *food*. That is breastfeeding. If you aren't nursing or giving human milk, the *only* acceptable alternative is formula. A baby *cannot* digest anything else, so *especially* if he is a hungry baby, you need to feed him more often or more at each feeding. If he is sleeping for 4 hours at a time, that could be the reason that he is eating "too much"; that is *too long* for most newborns to go without a feeding!! Most young babies will have at least 8-10 feedings in 24 hours.

NO! Babies should not be eating any kind of food til they are 4 months old (and then only rice cereal) unless otherwise specified by a doctor. You can try putting some rice cereal in a bottle and that may make him sleep a little longer at night. My son is 3 months old and just started sleeping through the night all babies are different. You just need to try to sleep when ever he does. Having a child isn't a convenience thing you have to make sacrifices.

My son is 10 weeks and he only sleeps for 3 hours at a time, but he is only eating 4-5 ounces every three hours. Some people believe that rice cereal cannot be digested at this age or that it can cause allergies, the actual effect though is barely significant, unless your family has a strong predisposition to food allergies.

However, you really shouldn't feed him cereal until 1) he can hold his head up when sitting 2) is interested in food (tries to take your food, or opens mouth when spoon is brought towards him) and 3) can swallow solids--try a tiny bit of formula dilluted cereal on the tip of his tongue.

If he can't do one of those 3 things, it will be useless to try to feed him-since he won't be able to eat it. If he can do those 3 things, ask your Dr. if its okay to start solids early.

Sleeping for short periods is not necessarily an indication of a baby being hungry. It could be just his sleeping rhythm. Does he empty his bottles or are you breast feeding him? Does he pretty much empty your breast? You could feed him a very thin gruel, but most people won't recommend it. He needs a few more months before you introduce him to solid food. How about experimenting with the formula, if that's what you're feeding him now? Remember, he is only eight weeks old and four hours of sleep is just about right for him, both my wife and I think. Be a little more patient with him and let him find his rhythm without to many expectations on your part. Relax and enjoy him.

My son didn't sleep through the night till he was almost two. You could try a little bit of cereal but an 8 week old baby won't beable to to use the spoon too well. Talk to your ped. they can offer advise as to what to do. Im sure they get stuff like this all the time.

hi HUN, my son changed into the very similar, we replaced him 2 hungry infant milk at a million month because the traditional stuff only did not do it for him...by using 3 months i changed into weaning him with infant rice. the midwife did not like the perception, yet except they were prepared to guard him and feed him usual milk and manage seeing him so unhappy, then i wasn't prepared to pay interest!! the way we did it changed into attempting him on hungry milk interior the day, as then you honestly can manage the disillusioned abdomen rather than through the nighttime. (replacing to hungrier milk gives you a mild abdomen disillusioned, yet my boy had no complications replacing over.) if each little thing is superb then only commence feeding him that each body mutually. its no longer a tremendous theory to modify milk thoroughly (e.g. SMA to cow n gate), as think about extra probability of infant having an disillusioned abdomen. yet again of the milk only ain't retaining him it will be an theory if the hungrier infant milk would not artwork..yet supply it time. I surely have heard that SMA may be quite watery, so i had my son on Mulipa Aptamil and it changed into superb. Your accurate that midwives and health visitors will inform you its incorrect, yet like I stated...your mum, and also you comprehend in case your infant is sad...also its as a rule attempt e book understanding besides.those who've surely had youthful ones will say do what you imagine is acceptable... So certain, if I were you i'd substitute :)

I fed my son cereal mixed with formula at 5 weeks. He was a very hungry baby. The doctor said not to feed him cereal but I didn't want to deprive my baby of food. I would stay away from juice...it's just empty calories. Save that for when he's older.

At that age baby's eat every 4-6 hours(depending on your child). No you shouldn't feed your baby anything but breast milk or formula. Their little systems aren't ready for anything else. Wait until he is 4 months and start the cereal. My child was different he ate every 2 hours until he was 6 months old. He didn't sleep thru the night until he was close to 2.

Good luck and happy parenting.

You should be either breastfeeding or bottle feeding the baby for several months. If you feel the baby is still hungry you need to call your pediactrician. My son would have nursed for 24 hours straight if I had let him. Only through the wisdom of my mom did I learn that he really just had a need to suckle, not just for milk. I ended up giving him a pacifier after I nursed him which seemed to keep him satiated.
