Format or use restore discs which came with your puter.

Btw-----If you chose to buy or use the freebee virus scanners make sure it looks for Rootkits.

If you have a Rootkit and AV can't remove them then format or restore discs are pretty much your only options.

You could try Linux!

Linux doesn't have a problem with viruses, and it makes a great replacement to Windows.

(Viruses are generally just a Windows problem.)

Mac OS X doesn't have a virus problem either.

Linux is free though.

If you want to stay with Windows try a program called Ewido. It detects malicious software better than the other programs.

AVG free is the best anti virus soft wear that I have used so far. It's free, scans daily, and when you do have a virus it gives you really simple directions on how to get rid of it. People recommend Norton, but it hasn't been the best in my experience, it kept popping up telling me that I had a virus on a file that wasn't even on my computer.

I have tried all of the afore mentioned software programs. PC-Cillin by Tren Micro is by far the best. They have something called "House Call" that you can run from their Wbsite for free(you don't even have to have PC-Cillin installed on your machine. It found Malware/Grayware, Trojans, and dialers that none of the other found. I have ran it on numerous PC's that had either Norton or McAfee installed and it found things that neither of those found. Oh yeah, did I mention running house call was free!

Look on EBay for "Trend Micro PC-CILLIN 2006". Some folks are selling for less than $9 with free shipping. I bought 3 copies for my office.

Here is the EBay link:

I tell you what I use, and it's great and free! AVG, you can download it for free, and it updates every morning. I've gotten 2 viruses and it has caught them and put them in quarantine. I think it's great.

Norton, is my choice, but most of the ISP's have or offer some kind of virus ware with there service. You might call your service and ask them if they have any virus ware for you to download for free of charge.
