A week ago, Hezbollah - a terrorist organization based on the southern part of Lebanon abducted 2 Israeli soldiers. Israel warned that if Hezbollah won't return the soldiers, they will bomb the Hezbollah stronghold. Hezbollah did not return the soldiers that's why Israel attacked their stronghold. Hezbollah is supported by Iran and Syria, as proven from the make and ammo of the missiles they fired into Israel, so Israel has to destroy the infrastructure connecting Hezbollah to Damascus and Tehran to make it difficult for re-inforcement arms and equipment to reach Lebanon and Hezbollah.

Lebanon is a weak country that cannot do anything about an area in the south that harbours terrorist.
The Terrorist use this part of Lebanon as a base for killing and attacking Israel. All the time. For many years.
Finally Israel said enough and decided to punish those who are killing Israelis and cripple their ability to attack. If that means bombing Lebanon back into the stone age, then so be it. The Lebanese will suffer but their inability or unwillingness to police the terrorist makes them complacent.

Because Lebanon violated the United Nations agreement made in the year 2000 in which Israel got all of its forces out of Lebanon. Lebanon was supposed to send the Lebanese army to police the south of Lebanon to protect Israel from Hazbollah type forces and never did.

The fighting was triggered when Hizbollah, the guerrilla group which is backed by Syria and Iran and is part of Lebanon's government, seized two Israeli soldiers and killed eight in a cross-border raid on northern Israel on July 12.
It continues because the soldiers were not released and because the Lebanese government did nothing to assure this group would not attack Israel. The group is in fact part of the government. Israel wants this group disarmed and regular Lebanese forces to protect the border. Until they comply, the fighting will continue.

Short answer; Because 3 soldiers were kidnapped. We should be as aggresive when our soldiers are killed or wounded.
Long answer; Because in the Jewish and Islamic religions, they both claim the same piece of real estate is a Holy site ( for different reasons ofcourse). The site is in Jeruselam and I believe it is called the Temple Mount. But this has been going on for centuries. But never got ugly like it is now until the mid 20th century when the Jewish people, who had been scattered all over the world, were given back Israel as their homeland. I personally believe that it is their homeland because in the Bible God gave them this land (even more than the boundaries show). But not everone feels the way I do.
Hope I helped

Israel is not attacking Lebanon directly or purposefully.
Israel is attacking the hezbolah that is entrenched in the regions they are attacking. Lebanon has had years to gain control of this area and has failed. These terrorists have been firing rockets into Israel from this area for years.
I think Israel got wind of some new longer range rockets that the hezbolah gained from Iran and needed to eliminate them. Its been shown that rockets recieved from Syria contain shotgun like pellets these are designed to kill and maim civilians and nothing else.

Let's see if I can make this simple for ya...
- Lebanon hasn't controlled Hezbolah in Southern Lebaonon
- They Hez, are part of the governemtn in Lebanon
- They are supported with money and arms from Syria and Iran
- That stuff comes in from various places in Lebaonon -- ports, etc.
- They have their own army (militia) and attck israel.
- They live in various parts of Lebanon.
- They have attacked Israel recently.
Israel has had enuf and is attacking what is perceived as helping Hezbolah.

Hmm... modern-day background ring any bells? because of the fact did no longer they do exactly that some years in the past? besides, i'm purely a touch cynical whilst the only source quoted source for the form and numbers of those 'long variety' missiles (considering the undeniable fact that may not long variety, it is medium) is an IDF Brigadier well-known. it is in his pastime to construct up the probability. That way whilst Hezbollah lob missiles into Israel (which they certainly will) he's already well-known the mandate for rolling each of how as much as Beirut. And apparently they could could desire to invade with the aid of UN gadgets; i ask your self how that could circulate down with Israel's regularly occurring allies?

because hezbollah kidnapped two isreali soldiers a week ago. so, now the isreali army is hitting the so called infastructure of lebanon to try and cripple hezbollah. hezbollah has fired rockets across the border into some isreali cities. they havent done near as much damage as the isrealis have done to lebanon. and for isreal to destroy the airport in beriut is such BS! like putin said....they should show some restraint, this is all not war. but isreal has the backing of usa...so they will do what ever they want, where ever they want, and for as long as they want.
