Why people says that greeks are animal killers?

Surfing the questions here, i saw that assumption and I dont understand it.

In Greece there are many people who love animals, they take good care of them, etc. Unfortunately, there are some who abandon them and so there are strays. Many people feed the strays and take care of them as well. However, some people are bad with strays and kill them. Even if one person out of a hundred does that, this is the image that stays, because the outcome counts. It would be the same in other countries, but there is not effective police control of people whoabandon their pets, although the law is strict about it. Still, I prefer strays taken care of by the whole neighbourhood, than getting packed somewhere and put down, as I have heard happens in many "animal-loving" countries, where you don't see strays.

Greeks are not animal killers. That is just dumb. The Greek people, depending on where you are eat different type of animals than some other countries, but they also use the entire animal and dont waste any. The same would go for Spain and Italy. Now look at the Asian countries. They also eat different animals. Are they animal killers? NO. They are just feeding themselves.

Oh, I hear it every day - "Those Greeks are animal killers." Just a couple of minutes ago I heard them in the deli saying, "You know those Greeks, bunch of animal killers."

What? Who says such a thing? Or is it that you see one single comment from some fanatic or dumb butt, and you think the whole world says Greeks are animal killers?

Greeks don't kill any more animals than any other nationality.

The only thing about killers that i have heard is that . It depends from who sides you are if you believe it or not!. Greeks is a peaceful nation that had create democracy, the right to you and me to express our opinion, so Greeks are people of words not of manners, and the original greeks had good manners believe me ,especially for people that need help and for animals. So Greeks are angels comparing other nations , trust me.

Dear Princess I believe if there is such a saying it has to do with the fact that in Greece there are many stray animals.The Greek law -unlike other countries' laws-does not allow euthanasia to these dogs or cats unless they are really sick.I can inform you that these strays are fed daily by people,including me,are given names but they are independent and it is so cute to see them waiting for the green light to cross the busy streets!They are clever.I cannot of course say that there are not sick people who try to treat them bad.Good news is these dogs have friend-dogs that chase away the stupid ones!

Strange! who says this? Are those vegetarians? Since people do eat meat (first the Greek philosophers were not eating meat!)!
In case people eat meat, do they eat the animals alive? Killing and eating animals hawe been accepted by most people, but the wise ones avoid from such!
