supervisors and leadman are titles. leadman refers to a crew of workers being told what to do during the shift such as a plant manufacturing parts on a multi-person machine or group of machines in one portion of the plant. Supervisor is the next step up and is usually a minor manager position over several leadmen or people as may be found in an office environment. in some cases leadmen make more money due to getting money on a per piece job, while a supervisor is usually a salaried position.

A supervisor is most likely classified as exempt status under the Fair Standards Labor Act. A leadman is most likely non-exempt. There are differet classifications for jobs with respect to responsibility in the position. The supervisor can hire and fire; a leadman probably cannot.
