Because our country seems to look at media as Heaven and the Celebrities that reside there as Gods.
Most people don't make up their own minds, rather, they enjoy having someone else decide for them. We are a nation of TV watchers, not readers or thinkers. So... Tom Cruise HAS to be right.
Plus, Celebrities themselves feel that they have been given a pulpit... and what person with an opinion do you know that wouldn't take advantage of that, regardless of how much or how little they've thought over what they're saying?

I don't take politics of celebrities for two reasons.
The first is that politics is only a spectator sport to anyone who isn't elected. And anyone who is electable and isn't running for office is merely a spectator cheering at the players.
The second reason is that celebrities make a lot of money just by being celebrities. And they think they can buy their power. That's just as wrong as Enron buying political power from President Bush when they were in the business of generating electrical power.
Celebrities learned a long time ago to go for the political issues because they make the celebrities look smarter. The fact is, that politicians want the celebs hanging around to make the look young.
Man, that is a bad combination.

Because Americans have turned goofy.
Why would any serious and/or sane person listen to a mega-rich celebrity with regard to how we should live our lives in any respect? What could those people possibly know about what we go through in our daily lives?
And how ironic that most of those celebrities bash rich politicians as bad people, always making the case that rich people are bad for the country.

I got one for you, Rick Warren. he's not really a celebrity, but a pretty well known author/minister these days. He donates 90% of his income and only keeps 10% for himself and his family. Now that's a quality I like in a celebrity type figure.

because the people who listen to celebs have no ability to reason for themselves. That is why entertainment tonight is one of the most watched shows on TV. I could give a crap less what any celeb thinks unless they have multiple degrees in poly sci or actually have donated 95% of their wealth to a worthwhile cause. I hate when millionaires tell me what to do with my hard earned money.

I don't get what your saying, but I never take celebrities seriously....most are uneducated at best...and have people who tell them how to run their lives........None of them are worth listening to on any subject.
