Um... don't use the M word in the theatre else you'll curse yourself, the space and any current shows in rehearsal/production....... and if you MUST, go around the outside of the theatre counterclockwise three times repeating "I curse myself" the whole time.

A monologue ON Lady Macbeth? How cool.
The thing about Lady Macbeth that I thought was great was the fact that she had the control over her husband. I mean, she was the one who encouraged him to kill the king....he was kind of a wimp. I honestly think if Lady Macbeth wasn't a woman she would've done it herself. It's almost as if she wishes she were a man instead of a woman, because she knows that she carries that power. My favorite monologue where she seems to get very turned on with the idea of killing the king is the one that starts "the raven himself his hoarse that croaks the fatal entrance...."
Seriously, there's tons of searching you can do on her - use those creative energies, have fun with it. Good luck! :)

You have to admit, the most striking thing about Lady MacBeth is her ability to stir up her husband and incite him to kill the king, support him through all the horrible stuff he does. But then she just goes to pieces, slowly becoming insane from guilt, because she actually does have a conscience.
Her whole sleepwalking bout is so critical to the play. "Out Out damn spot" where she always sees blood on her hands could be whipped up into a monologue that talks about how we often make horrible decisions based on base instincts like greed and the desire for power, things we do without thinking about the right or wrong of them, things we do as if in our sleep. We are sleep walkers who wander about doing things not really knowing what consequences there are for those things. We think that because men are old are shrivelled up they don't have much blood, we will not be splattered with that blood that never comes out. Somehow we can delude ourselves if we really let our dreams cloud our vision. Once we wake up, it's too late. What we've done we cannot take back. We can never wash out that damn spot.
Here's her sleepwalking speech...
Out, damned spot! out, I say!--One: two: why,
then, 'tis time to do't.--Hell is murky!--Fie, my
lord, fie! a soldier, and afeard? What need we
fear who knows it, when none can call our power to
account?--Yet who would have thought the old man
to have had so much blood in him.

if you can figure out what kind of mental illness she might have had that could have caused her to act the way she did (before she was obviously mad), that would make a good monologue. only site references early in the play to support your argument, otherwise they'll be like, "yeah, okay, so she was driven mad by her own deeds..we know that!" and use symptoms and diagnoses from the DSM (it's the manual doctor's use for diagnosing mental illnesses)

Hmm...you could probably write about how the guilt over the king's murder drives her insane in the end.
It's been done before, but that doesn't mean it's not a good topic.

Yeah. Have the babe sit at the top of a flight of stairs looking out your basic nordic castle replete with thick walls in waning incoming sunlight, possibly at a harbor, turn softly to the audience and yell:
Well varlets?!! Have ye all gone peep freak???!!! Wist ye not a lady needs some privacy in these dank parts at times???!! "
And on and on like this here. Hope this helps.
