I'm 26 with type 1 diabetes I've been diabetic since I was 12. Basically, I went through the 5 stages of dying, you know, 1)denial, 2) anger, 3) bargaining, 4) depression, 5) acceptance. Not once, but multiple times. The best thing to do is to find a group in your area. No matter how long you have diabetes, there will always be new things, ideas. Education is the key. The best advice is the advice of your doctor. You're going to have to learn how to deal with people who know people with diabetes (they give bad advise). Find a local chapter of the ADA.

Try not to let it overwhelm you, and you should take each day as it comes. You should keep very careful track of your blood sugars, and with your physicians approval, start an excersize program. Exersizing 20 minutes a day (in time-work up slowly) can help all diabetics, even the worst will benefit. So hang in there. Walking is excellent, provided you be sure to keep your feet in good condition.

You really need to talk to your doctor more. They can help you, and should refer you to a nutritionist, perhaps also an endocrinologist and help you deal with this on deeper levels.

You have my prayers and best wishes. Most of my loved ones are diabetic, so I feel for you.

I can't tell you what to do but i can tell you what i did. I got pissed off, angry, depressed, researched a lot of stuff. Started taking the drugs my doctor prescribed and and listened to most of the things he told me. Eventually my blood sugar straightened out and i started eating healthier. I tried to stop taking my prescriptions and the levels rose again. I'm still upset but like anything in life you learn to adapt. there is a web site below with some articles about diabetes. Good luck.

Someone once told me that having a health problem and being forced to take care of yourself properly can be a blessing in the long run. Not much comfort when you're the one dealing with it but I try to look at my problems and realize that even though they may be a pain there's always someone dealing with something worse.

Hope you have a good doctor and that you can learn to take care of yourself and take it in stride. We all have to deal with something eventually, you just got introduced to one of your challenges at a young age. Don't you feel special :-) Seriously, my daughter had thyroid cancer at 14. Not fun.

My husband who is 52 has been diabetic since 7. He has watched his weight, kept active, and takes very-good care of himself. He recently had a kidney transplant and is doing great most days.

If you have Type 2 diabetes, change your diet and it might go away. Type 1, just deal with it. Watch what you eat and stay away from foods you shouldn't eat.

ARE YOU ABLE TO TAKE MEDS OR THE NEEDLE? EITHER WAY, YOU SHOULD BE GLAD THAT YOUR DOCTOR FOUND OUT IN TIME BEFORE YOU WENT INTO A COMA. I'M SORRY FOR YOUR DISABILITY. IT'S A PAIN IN THE NECK. I WATCH MY MOTHER ATTEMPT TO KEEP HERS UNDER CONTROL, I'VE WATCHED TWO 14 YEAR OLDS HAVE TO CHECK THEIR BLOOD SUGAR 4-6 TIMES A DAY. IT'S SOMETHING THAT CAN BE CONROLLED AND THERE IS MEDICATION FOR IT. WATCH YOUR DIET AND GOD BLESS!
