I take Midol Complete in the blue box. The capsules are light & dark blue. I also take warm showers, as hot as I can stand the water. I let it stream over my stomach area. If I'm not in the mood for a shower, I climb into the tub. Heating pads work great too. The heat relaxes the muscles. Laying on your left side also helps.

Many women experience pain before and during their period. Heat may help (a heating pad or hot water bottle)...some over the counter pain med such as Midol or whatever works best for you...if you choose to get on birth control the pill does tend to really lessen PMS symptoms (some women get on it just for that reason) , depo provera (the injection) tends to end your periods completely while you are on it...

Talk to your doctor to see what's recommended for you if you just want to treat the symptoms, or use a form of birth control to help with that...if your doctor won't tell you anything other than "cramps are normal" then find a new doc...

Try the birth control pill. I was so surprised how easily it took away my horrible cramps as well. Getting a pain killer such as Naproxen (I was prescribed 1000mgs a day with bad cramps) will help the symptom not the ISSUE. Try the pill and good luck! Be careful not to get put any serious hormonal pills, they make you nuts. Good luck again.

Oh I hate that. "it's normal...take some advil or something"...it doesn't FEEL normal. (I want some drugs that give me RELIEF!!!). I usually start taking extra strength tylenol a few days before, and that usually makes it a little more bearable. Also, those heat patches (like the heat wraps from ThermaCare). They help some, but not nearly as much as spending the day in sweats curled up with a heating pad. (Though I can't do that as often as I wish...)

Best of luck, and if you find a miracle cure, let me know...share the wealth with the rest of us girls!

I drink alot luke warm (or milk) of watter, take asprin regularly (every four hours on the hour) and take some gravol. I'm not sure why but it makes everything loosen up and eases the pain. I also lie down flat on my back on the hardest flour I can find on a heating pad.

I usually take 2 advil and that is the best thing I do that helps. Also warmth, whether it be a warm bath, a heating pad, etc. Stretching is also helpful. Oh, and a little caffiene. I like to get mine from chocolate!!

At 24 weeks i began having menstrual-sort cramps on and stale for each week or 2. I referred to as my midwife who reported as long as they weren't frequently used (i.e. hard artwork pains!) then it became into basically uterine stuff. yet, call to be certain. i've got not had it in each week now.
