I found out I was pregnant around Christmas 2004 so I got my mom a picture frame. It was a wooden frame that had 3 places to put pictures. At the top of the frame it said "Bundle of Joy". It took her a minute to figure it out but after she did she was ecstatic! Or if your parents collect anything you could try to find something for them that is baby-related. For example, my grandmother collects teapots so for Christmas I got her a little tiny teaset that was decorated with baby stuff. The teapot looked like a little crib, the saucers had little pacifers on them, etc... But I'm sure they will be thrilled no matter how you tell them. Congratulations!

I told my all of my husbands and my family at a family Christmas get together by wrapping a picture frame for each family with the ultrasound picture in it. Then I had them open it at the same time so they found out together. It took a few minutes for a few but they thought it was cute. I also like the idea of sending the letters in the mail spelling grandparents. Or maybe you could use email and save some postage. (just make up a pretend email address so they don't know it's you.)

Definitely telling them before the child is born is a good idea.
A good way I think to do it would be to get them a card. Find a kind of card you would recieve at a babyshower (like something with light pink or blue coloring with rattles and such on it.) and send it to your parents with the message inside reading "I have good news." You definitely want to tell them in person though. The card is merely a wake up call so telling them isn't like slamming a bat into their face.

You could send them a card with this poem in it.
I do not have a face to see
or to put inside a frame,
I do not have soft cheeks to kiss
And don't yet have a name.
You cant yet hold my tiny hands
Nor whisper in my ear,
Its still to soon to sing a song,
Or cuddle me so near.
But all with change come _______ (due month)
That's when they say I'm due
I'm your new grandson/granddaughter,
I cant wait till i meet you.
All I ask between now and then
Is your patience while i grow,
I promise I'll be worth the wait
Because of all the love we'll know.
So what i have to give you now,
Is a wish to you from me...
I cannot wait to be apart
Of this wonderful family
Love
Baby______ (name/surname)
Due: _______

When we were pregnant with my son, we bought the grandparents, a blue I love grandma bib, and when we were pregnant with my daughter we gave them a picture frame, and in the frame it said we are expecting with the due date on it. The print was really light, so they had to look hard to see what it said. It was neat, we thought!

Give them a "World's Best Grandmother/father/parents" shirt (or something with that phrase on it.)
Congratulations! Babies rock! Thank you for being pro-life!

Anonymously mail them the letters to spell grand baby and let them work it out.
