anybody but f&j can build a home, but a contractor who does single family one at a time on contract is the best bet, rather than community builders. biggest reason is not getting locked into a homeowner association so you don't lose your home because you didn't paint the house last week. it's a mess when they sell your house out from under you and you still owe the money to the lender for the full value. the new owner usually gets it for next to nothing. and associations get away with it.
