i haven't watched the movie but i heard there are really good songs in it. i need a song for my talent show. any good songs that a girl sings in the movie?

There is really only one Rent song that is sung just by one girl: Out Tonight. Its a REALLY fun song, though, and would be perfect for a talent show - its sung by the main character while she's getting ready to go out, so its very upbeat and fun. Its a good song, too. That would probably be the first song I would suggest for you to sing.
There are other songs that might work, though, with a bit of changes. Without You is actually sung by a girl and a guy, but most of it is just sung by the girl alone. Its a very pretty song, but slow and sad. I'm sure that you could arrange the part where both people sing so you could sing it alone.
You could also sing Take Me or Leave Me, since its sung by two girls, but its supposed to be a couple fighting, so it might be a bit weird. I think there IS a solo version, though, for auditions and such. I swear I saw it in a friends' Broadway song book. I looked online very quickly for it, but couldn't find it, but maybe you will have more luck?
The only other songs I might suggest are Seasons of Love [which is the most famous for the musical] or Today For You. Seasons of Love is really sung by the entire cast and would probably be very hard to sing alone, but its the most widely recognized song and its very pretty. Today For You is actually sung by a drag queen in the movie, but it could easily be sung by a girl, if you take it out of context.
I really hope this has helped you somewhat. I would suggest listening to any of the songs you might be interested in singing [rent the movie or buy the soundtrack or whatever?] and then deciding. Personally, I'd go with Out Tonight, but really all of them would be fun!

I believe the best song for a girl to sing is Out Tonight. The one Mimi sings, its perfect for you to let loose and get crazy with.
