It's here b/c people made the abreviation that's why, if you don't want to use it then don't... I use it to let people know when I'm talking light heartedly, or giggling, or just find something funny...

It means laugh out loud! Why is it here? Becuase it saves you from having to write out laugh out loud a million times, especially if you laugh a lot like I do- lol lol lol =)

And for greenfuzzy49 roflmao means rolling on floor laughing my *** off =) lol
