I can't stand music that has a guitar solo longer than a minute. It just sounds contrived and unnecessary to the music. Not that I'm saying all guitar solos are bad but most of them lack a good reason for being in the song and sound out of place.

Does anybody agree with me?

Guitar solos are a very important part of a rock song, but too-long solos ARE along the lines of irritating. Story: I was covering a live show by a well-known band many years ago, and my editor asked me what I thought of the show afterward. My reply was, "the band was great, but I got sick to death of 10-minute guitar solos in EVERY song." Me -- I LOVE great guitar solos -- but kept to an appropriate length. They definitely have a reason to be in the song -- and rock songs themselves seem highly lacking LATELY without them -- but too-long does become derivative!

Yeah, as long as they're short & sweet!!! Most are just to show off if they're any longer!!! Lots of Metal solos are just too long and played through "talent boosters" and it's no longer the player and his or her guitar and amp! Zakk Wylde and Dimebag are superb examples of too many effects actually doing the solo and while they know their guitars, they're boring and sound fake!!

well, it depends on the type of music, If it's hardcore punk It's not necessary, but if it's good metal, then it is absolutely a must.

check out some Dimebag Darrell solos or some Zakk Wyldd solos. or check out Children Of Bodom or Sonata Arctica and then tell me solos aren't cool

nicely, it is unquestionably impossible to sing alongside to a guitar solo, via fact the consumer above defined. yet now and back I make the sounds with my voice, in many circumstances with air guitar and each thing.
