IT IS EXPENSIVE! However I would suggest staying at the dormitory and taking up loans to help fund yourself additionally. Further, you should consider having family help out with sending money and if you choose to think about picking up a part-time job so you can have some extra change to work with as well. I mean it all depends on your financial status and your spending habits and what it takes to keep you "comfortable". You may find that your "needs" or "luxuries" may conflict with the "necessaries".
You may not need to bring your car unless you can afford to and want to have a garage to store it. COSTLY
NY is a great place to get the nation's finest educators. Education is my reason for my own move to NY and so far I have not regretted a single second. (maybe just the expensive tuition lol)
It's all about budgeting. Aside from that you'll enjoy NY hand's down and this will be a great experience.

You need to visit before you make a decision on any college. It is really not a good idea to commit to a college without seeing it in person. Go to the campus and to the main places that you'd be hanging out at. Try to visit at a time other than spring break or other holidays so you can talk to some of the students. They are your best resource and can tell you a lot more than any viewbook or website. You don't know if you like something until you've tried it. It's definitely not going to screw up your life if you don't make a decision til you're ready (and have been accepted, of course). Good luck!

You don't need a car in the city. NY is pretty expensive so i would definately start saving now. NY is a great place though, lots of fun.

well i live in staten island, one of the 5 boroughs of NYC and i love it. i've lived here my entire life and there isnt anything i would change. its about an hour from the city and has a pretty good spectrum of things to do. in my opinion i would try to get an apt. here or in another borough so you could save $$ and then between classes & all you can hang out in the city and all, i think thats the way to go [=

I live in New York (about to move down south next month though) and believe me you'll love it! You just need to make wise decisions. It gets crazy over here but as long as you know how to budget and be responsible you'll be fine.
