THANK YOU!!!!!!! MTV used to be socially negative to the society. I remember I used to get grounded if I watched MTV when I was 11. But in today's society, kids watch whatever they want. And to get viewers, MTV put up shows that will bring in the viewers, which get younger and younger and dumber and dumber.
I suggest you do what all the other mature people do and turn to FUSE or some other music channel that actually plays the WHOLE video.

You ain’t whistling Dixie there my friend. I remember when MTV first aired, and videos were all they were playing. I also remember the adults during MTV’s heyday saying that the videos were corrupting their teenage son’s and daughters. Then they started to air small features to break up the onslaught of video’s like airing small programs like ‘The Young Ones’ or various underground animations like ‘Aeon Flux’ and ‘The Maxx’ to name a few.
Now it’s nothing but:
(a) Slow-motion tough guy homie vids talkin bout how they ‘f***ed they b***h till she died and then went in the kitchen and had a bowl of cornflakes.
Or I can hear about how some:
(b) Angst ridden, love patched twit who can’t cope because his girlfriend changed colleges and left him a slobbering mess.
If this is the limit of musical talent that’s out there for us to see and hear than I guess MTV is perfectly justified in devoting 90%+ of their airtime to cell phone ring tones and pod cast programs, because we’re obviously living in a deficit of musical talent.
Maybe the adults who were critical during the early days of MTV finally managed to get control of what they’re showing and so all we’re allowed to watch is bimbo/bimbette fluff television. In which case I’d guess MTV probably stands for Moron TeleVision.

the demographics changed when they realised that the main market for music was 8-14 year old girls who had their parents disposable income to play with and the present day fear of saying 'no' to a child in case social services get involved! - hence pop bands such as the Spice Girls and West life (pop karaoke!) and pop idol etc. You don't have to cut your teeth in the industry you now have to win a competition.
They sold out to the mighty dollar.

It went to MTV2 and then MTV2 became all crap shows and now it's on MTVs college station that you can only get in some college campuses. FUSE actually shows music videos. It's amazing, I thought they didn't exist anymore...
