first off the guy above me is leading you in the wrong direction. i also have a 01 gt, but here is what i have. cold air intake, headers, borla exhaust, ported throttle body, ported upper intake minifold, ported lower intake manifold, ported heads, msd 8.5mm wires, and iridium plugs. oh i also have the throttle body by-pass kit. i run a 15.3 quarter mile, and my 0-60 is 6.75. so as you can see, i have way way more mods then him, and i dont "hand with v8s".

anyways you can do what i did. start slow and work your way up. dont get mods that wont really help you much. you have made then engine inhale better. next is exhale. so get some good exhaust like borla or slp. then get a throttle body, maybe some wires and plugs, and then start porting the upper half of your engine. from the heads up. headers will also be a great thing to do. do you have a inline 4, or the 3.4? i was giving you a list to the 3.4, but if you have the inline 4, then you can still do the same things.

a good source for you to check out is http://grandamgt.com/. theres a ton of info that you can use there. also if you dont believe me, check out my car, http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2097068

good luck to you, and let us know how it all works out for you.

Whats up I'm bill and i have a 2001 grand AM GT3.4L ram air cold air induction and its super fast runs with V8s.You just go to Pontiac performance.com get a GORILLA CHIZ(this chip is for grand Am's and its cheap and simple to hook up. it tricks the computer into thinking cold air is coming through the intake tub .changes the shift pattern and increase the acceleration plus top end) and a THROTTLE BYPASS kit(this is also simple to install it reroutes the coolant going through the throttle body, the coolant heats up and restricts the flow as it pass through it Reroute the hose with this kit and then cap off the throttle-body ur done.). next get COLD AIR INDUCTION or some form of it. then grab a exhaust Borla makes a very good one then your to smoke some friend.

Good luck...

You can probably get an intake for it, or make one out of a cone filter and some home depot pvc pipe.

Take it to an exhaust shop, have new pipes made (I'd cut out the cats too).

Otherwise,
Not trying to be harsh, but...
You picked the wrong car to modify.
You might want to look into selling it instead, and buying something else.
