It is propoganda,but not government sponsored.Notice how anti-republican it is,even though republicans are in charge.Most media tends to lean left.
But yes most people wouldn't know the difference.They just believe whatever the talking heads on tv tell them.

While the media may believe it is doing our people a favor presenting us with the facts, remember there is no such thing as unbiased media so you're never getting both sides, and you are just getting enough information to appease the dumbed down american public. All news you recieve crosses the hands of some government official and gets manipulated in some way. Watch the movie Wag the Dog, you'll get what I mean.

It depends on who owns each TV/radio station and newspaper/magazine.

It's been my experience that the media in larger markets tend to be more biased than media i smaller markets. Again, it depends on who owns what in a particular area.

Example: The New York Times Co. is seen as very liberal, while Sinclair Broadcast Group is seen as very conservative. They each have their way of covering news and events.
